Venice campervan hire

Venice,

City on the water, sanctuary on the lagoon, city of love, Queen of the Adriatic- Venice is known as many different things. This beautiful city is one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations, loved and admired for its canals, incredible historic buildings, art and charm. There are no cars in the city, making it the ultimate pedestrian town- with no smog or traffic to contend with. Gondolas and other boats ply the canals to transport visitors and locals. Three of Venice’s major sights can be seen in one square- the Piazza San Marco, or Saint Mark’s Square. Always full of awestruck tourists, it is home to Saint Mark’s Basilica, Doge’s Palace and the Torre dell’Orologio. The other sights of Venice are best seen on foot or by sea- a gondola ride is a great experience but quite expensive, so the vaporetto boats serve as Venice’s version of a bus. Art lovers should visit the galleries around the city which hold some incredible history and heritage. A great way to soak up some Venetian ambiance is to partake in the sacred Italian tradition of aperitivo. Taking place in the early evening, it consist of cocktails and drinks at one of Venice’s many bars, which also offer tapas-style snacks for the daily event. Local wine and cuisine are excellent, thanks to fresh fish from Adriatic and the wine-growing region stretching north-east from Venice. Gelato is another of the city’s- and country’s- delights. Wandering along a canal and over bridges with a Venetian gelato in hand is a rare treat! From Venice, it is less than half a day’s drive to Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia or Croatia. Many of Italy’s major cities are also within easy reach- Bologna, Genoa, Milan, Verona, Florence and, slightly more distant, Rome. Heading south from Venice along the Adriatic coast is another option, and a path a little less travelled. A motorhome rental from Venice makes a great holiday in any direction!
