Caprivi Car Hire started in January 1996. Since then we have bought Kessler Car Hire in 2001. Our main goal is giving an outstanding service with a wide range of vehicles. Our fleet varies from economic sedans to 4x4's with or without camping equipment (Land cruiser Bushcampers fully equipped also Available for self drives) and luxury 4x4(Toyota Fortuner) as well as Toyota Avanza and Toyota Quantum 14 seaters. We can equip our vehicles with the following Roof tents,water can,petrol can,storage box,cooking equipment,gas cooker,washing basin,cool box,chairs,table and a 12V fridge and are allowed in neighboring countries (South-Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana). Our entire 4 x 4 vehicles is equipped with a second spare wheel, small toolbox, jack, shovel, tow rope and fire distinguish-er We can equip the vehicle to your needs.

Caprivi Camper Hire Rental Terms

I. Responsibilities of the Lessee

1. Vehicle handing over, required inspection by the lessee

  • (a) It is hereby noted that the hired vehicle was handed over to the lessee in good order and condition, i.e., as described on the check-list and equipped with tools, 1 or 2 spare tyres, shovel and warning triangle. The lessee/driver is obligated to check the vehicle for accuracy and completeness and to report any deviations to the office.
  • (b) The vehicle is equipped according to Namibian safety regulations. The lessees are responsible to inform themselves about the valid legal requirements concerning safety equipment, as well as any additional costs like cross border fees, when entering foreign countries and they are liable for those costs.

2. User authorisation

Only the drivers mentioned in the lease contract are authorised to drive the vehicle. The lessee is to represent the actions of the respective driver as their own. For use by an authorised third party the lessee is obliged to:

  • (a) inform Caprivi Car Hire of the name of any further drivers
  • (b) be sure that they are at least 23 years old and have been in possession of a valid driver’s licence for at least 5 years and
  • (c) inform the driver of the lease conditions before handing over the car and that they are obliged to adhere to these regulations.

3. Limited use

The lessee/driver is prohibited from driving or using the leased vehicle:

  • (a) for people under the age of 23 ;
  • (b) for people that are not mentioned as driver or lessee on the lease agreement;
  • (c) outside the undersigned driving area or cross border trips mentioned in the lease;
  • (e) for people which have been proven to be under the influence of narcotics, alcohol or drugs;
  • (f) for illegal events, car races, driving or vehicle tests, as well as off-road dune rides; water drives, night driving outside towns;
  • (g) for any other uses that are not indicated in the lease agreement, especially careless and reckless behaviour or deliberately causing damage;
  • (h) for disregarding the safety regulations: Leaving the vehicle unlocked or losing the keys.

4. Duty of Care

During the lease period the lessee is to regularly check the tyre pressure. Non-observance will leave the lessee liable for the resulting damage. The lessee is to return the vehicle with the same fuel level as at the time of leasing.

5. Disclosure duty

For every accident the police is to be notified immediately and the accident as well as any injuries, accident participants and damages have to be recorded. Caprivi Car Hire is to be informed without delay. Proof (witnesses, traces) are to be secured and the names and addresses of the involved parties are to be noted and everything is to be done to ensure that proper clarification of the cause of damage and loss can be traced. The lessee may not give an admission of liability either by payment or admitting to damages or fault in anticipation of the liability claim (endangering the insurance coverage).

6. Terms of Payment

Payments for indemnifiable damages are to be paid up to the amount of the excess, except for damages ascribed to gross negligence. These will be calculated in its entirety. Excess on cards will be released 3 working days after the vehicle has been returned.

7. Returning the Vehicle

The lessee is obligated to return the vehicle according to date, place and time detailed in the lease agreement or on request of Caprivi Car Hire return it earlier.

Returning the vehicle can only be done during normal office hours. These are advertised by Caprivi Car Hire at their offices. Should the car be dirtier than usual the lessee will be liable for the cleaning costs. After the termination of the contract or after exceeding the lease duration Caprivi Car Hire is entitled to repossess the vehicle or procure it at the expense of the lessee. The additional utilisation of the lease vehicle will be calculated according to the standard daily tariff.

II. Lessee Liability

1. Liability

The lessee is to note that the vehicle is not covered by a comprehensive insurance policy. During the lease period the lessee is liable for damage to the vehicle for up to the amount of the excess.

2. Liability Reduction (REW, SEC 1, SEC 2)

Within boundaries of the contract and in view of a legitimate error the lessee can be partially exempted against payment of a fee for damages to the hired vehicle. The excess amount for the lessee conforms to the finalized sum in the contract and is to be paid according to the claim. Caprivi Car Hire reserves the right to invoice expenses due to loss of use and handling charges incurred in the event of damage.

3. Lapse of Liability Reduction

The driver/lessee is liable for damages to the vehicle and the mentioned liability reduction is not valid if the driver/lessee caused these damages due to intent or violation against the lease terms and conditions or gross negligence (i.e. driving through water) or due to incorrect use of the vehicle or damage was incurred due to alcohol or drug induced incapacity to drive. The liability reduction is not valid for breach of regulations in and damages caused by negligence. This is also valid if the police was not called in for a liability case, with or without a third party being involved, provided that Caprivi Car Hire is not given the possibility of an objective investigation. In spite of an agreed reduced liability the driver/lessee is also liable for the damages to the additions and structures of the hire vehicle which are based on the culpable breach of the vehicle measurements (height, length, width).
III. Personal Data

  • (a) In order to implement the lease contract personal data is collected from the lessee and saved.
  • (b) Personal data submitted to Caprivi Car Hire can be used for data fusion and storage, as well as simplifying client information management.
  • (c) Credit card data is only used for dealing with payment processes.
  • (d) In case of payment delay or non-contractual return of the vehicle or due to incorrect personal data the personal information can be blacklisted. In case of default or denial of payment the client data can be forwarded to a third party for assertion.
  • (e) Only Master and Visa Credit cards will be accepted.


Rates included:
· Unlimited kilometers
· 2 Drivers
· Collusion damage waiver

· Where applicable camping equipment

Rates exclude:
· Fuel, Tyre, Lights,Windscreen and damages
· Delivery and Collection Fee
· Additional Driver (3rd+) Fees (20.00 N$ per day per person)
· Over border permit fees of 500.00 N$ per country
· Excess options
· Handling Fee of 450.00 N$ for damages
· Traffic tickets
· 20.00 N$ Contract Fee ( Stamp Duty)

Extensions:
· Should customer wish to extend his rental in excess of the voucher value, he will be charged the 7-14 day unlimited kilometers Rack Rate. The amount due will be collected direct from the Renter.
· The Renter has to inform Caprivi Car Hire 3 days prior of return date for extension of car rental

Cancellation Fees:
The deposit is non refundable. In addition to forfeiting your deposit, the following charges apply:
·  Any cancellation received within 33 days will be charged 15% of the total rental value.
·  50% of total rental value will be charged if cancelled within 18 days before rental.
·  100% of total rental will be charged if client cancelled within 3 days.

General:
· Rentals are subject to the standard rental conditions as described on the current brochure and rental agreement.
· Driver minimum age is 23 and maximum age is 70 years. Should client not fall into this category, please consult our office.
· We only accept driving licenses in English or international driving licenses. We do not arrange for translation. This should be done by client/agent. Please note that for insurance reasons only driver's licenses in English
or international driver's licenses can be accepted! If the International Driver license or the English translation are not present on the vehicle handover. Caprivi Car Hire has the right to refuse the vehicle handover.
· The Renter must have a valid credit card for the Excess deposit. (Visa or Master Card only). NO DEBIT CARDS
WILL BE ACCEPTED.
· Early Returns are not refundable.
· Rental charges are calculated from the time the vehicle reserved. Late collections are not credited.
· Night Driving outside of Towns are not allowed.
· Caprivi Car Hire is not liable for any loss and damages of personal property

From the insurance point of view there are three maximum speeds on our roads: Maximum speeds are 60km/h in cities, 80km/h on gravel roads and 120km/h on tar roads. According to the insurance policy, these maximum speeds may not be exceeded. All vehicles are equipped with a GPS Tracking system.
If the requested vehicle is not available or was in an accident then we have the write to change the booking to the next similar vehicle available.


Office Hours:
· Monday to Friday: 07h30 – 13h00 and 14h00 – 17h00
· Saturday, Sunday and public holidays only by appointment.

Collection of Vehicles:
Collection of Rental Vehicles are only possible until 16h00
Saturday, Sunday, and Public Holidays, Vehicles are only handed over on appointment. 

Return of Vehicles:
Vehicles can only be returned during Office Hours
07h30 – 13h00 and 14h00 – 17h00 subject to the Transfer times as specified by Caprivi Car Hire / Africa on Wheels.
Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays Vehicles may only be returned on appointment
Caprivi Car Hire / Africa on Wheels is not liable / responsible for clients arriving outside agreed appointment times. 

Transfers:

Arrival:
Clients will be provided with one free Transport from the International Airport to Windhoek, where such flights arrive no later than 19h00.
Flights arriving after 19h00 will be charged as extra Transfer at a cost of N$480.00.

Departure:
One free Transfer from Windhoek to the International Airport are at specific Times only
Additional transfer falling outside of the scheduled / agreed transfer times including delays or alterations in the transfer times will be charged with N$ 480.00 

Transfers times:
Summer: 6h30, 08h30, 10h30, 12h30, 14h30, 16h00
Winter: 4h30, 07h30, 09h30, 11h30, 13h00, 16h00

Drop Off and collection Fees:
· Fees/one way - as on request (price are subject to change without prior notice)

Insurance Options:
· Rates includes Theft loss and collusion damage waivers
· Option 1: Client can purchase the benefits of the Reduced Excess Waiver (REW) and reduce the applicable excess.
· Option 2: Client can purchase the benefits of the Super Excess Cover (SEC) and reduce his liability. The SEC includes glass and tyre damages. If an accident is not caused by the renter, the excess will be Zero. Should an accident however occur, where no other vehicle or animal is involved, the Excess will be payable by the Renter.
· Every damage caused by the Renter is payable up to the excess amount.
· Car Accessories and Camping equipment is not insured
· All excess amounts will be released after 3 working days.
· If vehicle is damaged because of negligence, full damage value is payable.
· Replacement vehicle: In case of accident the renter has to sign a new contract, new excess and has to pay the rent for the remaining days and the Tow in Costs.
· Excess is double if accident occurred in Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique and Tanzania.
· The security of the Excess chosen is required by credit card on collection of the vehicle.
· Insurance conditions and excesses may change without prior notice
· Super Excess Cover only rentals from 6 days +

Camping Equipment:
· Fully equipped vehicles include: Folding chairs and table, Grill Set, water can, gas cooker, neon lamp, cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery, sleeping bags, 12 volt fridge, sheets and pillows, roof top tent. 2pax or 4pax available.

Additional Equipment:
· 12 volt tyre pump
· Rubber sand mats
· GPS Navigation System
· Fuel cans
